Backcountry skiing in Montana

Despite our weather being mostly driven by a high pressure for the past week, small storm cells from last Saturday night, and then again late yesterday, are doing a lot to keep a smile on our skiing faces. Our staff members Tom, Kristy, Dana, Rob, Jordan, Hayley, and John have all enjoyed the skiing at Bridger this past week while Dale and his daughter, Palen, found a few nice turns up in one of their secret stashes.

The message remains the same: little inspiration is being provided by the lack of snow in the valleys, but the snow is remarkably good above 8000 feet. We understand for the casual recreational skier, this isn’t the best news. Mill Creek is unfortunately still not a good option, but the grooming at Bear Creek out of Jardine and the snow levels at Silver Crest just past Kings Hill have been providing good skiing. Also, we’ve been receiving good reports coming from the West Yellowstone area, including the Fawn Pass trail and the Rendezvous Ski Trails.

Regardless of the conditions, we’re going to keep skiing, especially when it snows...even just a little bit. When it doesn’t, we’ll be hiking, biking, or fishing. We’re glad to share any information we have that could contribute to enhancing your enjoyment outdoors. And, stay tuned; we have something exciting coming up next week!
